In December 2002, Cash America began reporting transactions electronically via LeadsOnline, a national third-party system used for criminal investigations. Through the program, law enforcement investigators are able to search one centralized, national database of transactions at the touch of a finger, saving investigators considerable time when compared to the traditional process of sorting through stacks of paper tickets by hand.
Cash America was the first major company to make transactions available to law enforcement on a national basis. Since that time, hundreds of cities and counties have implemented the program in an effort to eliminate many of the costly steps and inefficiencies traditionally involved with property crime investigations.
